The Courtyard Project

South Thames College, Wandsworth, London
Artist in Residence Julie Myers

The Courtyard Project originally stemmed from a college project in 1994-95. Students of the faculty of creative media studies undertook a conceptual project aimed at regenerating the internal courtyard space of the college, which is used primarily for overspill parking and access.

The role of artist in residence, funded by the RSA, was to produce work, that would, through the use of technology create a dialogue between the architects Glenn Howell and associates and the existing college community.

The project was time tabled to run in conjunction with the real architectural changes that were about to take place at the college and uses the collective imagination of the students and staff working there to develop a alternative architectural space on the web.
