Julie Myers

Biography

Julie Myers is an artist and lecturer based in London.

Her practice draws upon research methods associated with ethnography, but looks for more everyday ways people make sense of their environment.

Using technology as a way of mediating social interactions, the work is concerned with space and place, collective knowledge and shared experience. Sometimes recording just a brief moment captured between strangers and at other times building a relationship with multiple participants over a sustained period of time. She uses sound, video, mobile technologies, web and interactive formats to document and present her work.

Previous work has been commissioned by Arts Council England, NESTA, The British Film Institute, The British Council, AHRC, The Institute of Contemporary Art and The National Portrait Gallery, London.

Industrial collaborators include, Adobe Systems, USA, British Telecom, UK and Philips Multi Media, FR.
