Julie Myers make work in response to people and place. Her work combines traditional techniques such as photography, filmmaking and drawing together with mobile and web technologies. She looks for accessible, everyday ways that people make sense of their environment through memory, personal experience and the representation of story. These concerns have been extended though collaborations with school children, senior citizens, scientists, computer programmers, gardeners, architects, on-line participants and others.
Julie has undertaken residencies at Bedford Creative Arts, UK (2014), Knowle West Media Centre, UK (2011), Wysing Arts Centre, UK (2010), Stanford University, US (2009), The Banff Centre, CAN (2009) and Montalvo Arts Centre, US, (2007).
Past commissions have included: Arts Council England (2006, 2009, 2010); The British Council (2008); The British Film Institute (2001); The Institute of Contemporary Art London (1999); and the National Portrait Gallery, London, (1999).
Industrial collaborators have included; Adobe Systems, USA (2009); British Telecom, (2008); and Philips Multimedia, FR (2000).
